Katherine Bull

Katherine Bull is a Cape Town-based visual artist who has practised as a lecturer in tertiary education for two decades. In 2018 she started Fourfold Art Mentorship as a venture to offer various participatory forums of art mentorship for artists and designers. In her own creative practise she engages in a range of mediums to draw attention to sensory perception mediated through digital technologies and the act of representation itself. She brings analogue and digital modes of image-making into conversation through digitally drawing from life, or painting from live online broadcasts, webcams, Skype and Google Image searches. Since receiving her MFA degree from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town (1998) Bull has produced eight solo exhibitions, taken part in numerous group exhibitions and performed at international conferences in Poland, USA and Estonia. She was selected for the Ampersand Fellowship in New York (2007), Dwayer International Residency in Alexandria, Egypt (2008) and most recently she participated in a residency in Bologna Italy (2015) as an AIR Laureate (2014).
