Running from November 4th- 24th, Peach Emoji by Fanie Buys presents a small new body of work focusing upon the part of the body most likened to the peach emoji- the bum. Taking inspiration from scenes of vintage erotica, the artist's reproductions present a quality of tenderness in order to “deconstruct the hard depersonalization that is inherent in commercial erotica”. Using oil pastels and pencil crayons, Buys creates a body of work that appears both intimate and sensual, while the simplicity of the drawing materials imbues the depictions with a sense of playful sincerity.
