For more than a decade, Hannalie Taute primarily focused her attention on working with found objects. Seven years ago, she tried her hand at working with rubber and particularly inner tractor tubes and in 2012 she added embroidery to her list of preferred media.

“They say that I am an invented character, then so too are my family, or are they?”
With her fondness for the fabulous aspect of stories – the extension of games - of imitation of fantasy, Hannalie Taute presents to you the whole FAM-DAMNILY.
This exhibition is a continuation of Taute’s interest in and investigations of various relationships. The exhibition includes a series of portraits that Taute likes to refer to as a ‘dysfunctional family’. This will be the first time that a selection of the artist’s sketchbook pages will be on display since she started working with rubber. These sketches feature some key ideas behind the strange business of family such as the act of copying and repeating, but also dissecting and dismantling along with reassembling.
