About the Exhibition
Every natural system on earth is now defined by human activity, with planetary boundaries being rapidly and dangerously breached. In this exhibition, Katrine Claassens looks past our scorched earth onslaught to the beauty and life that yet persists, telling us a story of something that is always shifting and dissolving beyond our grasp. Drawing inspiration from Claassens' research in climate change, encounters with urban nature, extinction events, as well as memes, her paintings witness the quirks and tragedies of our time, evoking love for the ecologically rickety world we have shaped. Coming at a pertinent time in our world, Love Letters to the Muted World is 99 Loop Gallery's first fully online exhibition. See full details here.
