Showing at 99 Loop for the first time, Qhamanande Maswana presents his solo exhibition, Leaving behind yesterday. The exhibition is an exploration of notions concerning social stigma, identity, and success, specifically as they relate to Maswana's experience as a young artist in South Africa. Through depictions of purple-hued figures, the artist seeks to empower his subjects and challenge preconceived ideas of success, choosing to explore a more personal definition of it within marginalized communities. Running from November 4 - 24, Leaving behind yesterday will be displayed in our main gallery space.
